Peggy parish is the creater of the well known american novels, Amelia Bedelia. After Peggy's death in 1988 from an unexpected aneurysm, her nephew Herman Parish took over the Amelia Bedelia Series. Peggy attended University of South Carolina and recieved a bachelor of arts degree in English. The Amelia Bedelia series is a unique series about the young maid named Amelia Bedelia who works for a wealthy family in America. This series is very humerous and popular with children, Amelia's constant state of confusion and misunderstanding brings a sense of comedy to the books. Even after Peggy's death in 1988, Herman continued the humorous flow that was felt in the original books written in the 1970's.
I was very fortunate last year to meet Herman Parish at an Elementary I volunteered at. It was interesting how he discovered new ideas for each novel, Herman carries a writing pad with him everywhere he goes and anytime he hears something that would strike Amelia Bedelia's literall comedic conscious he writes down. It is very obvious that Herman Parish enjoys his work very much and has been more than happy to continue the success that his Aunt Peggy had created.
