The Giver
This weekend I have started reading the Giver by Lois Lowry. It is a very interesting and captivating novel about a young by named Jonas. In Jonas' world everything is perfect, there is no war, no love, everyone is on an equal level and every minute of their life is planned accordingly in their communtiy. I found it interesting to learn about and in awe of such a perfect place in which everything is corrupt and orderly. Jonas lives in a town in which one can have no personal thoughts can not question anything and must obey the "rules" which is assigned to them. Ironically since the people of the community have never been exposed to anything else in the surronding world, htye are unaware of the painfully life they lead. As the novel progresses we learn that Jonas discovers the corruptness and whole heartly believes its wrong. With all his strength and wisdom gained from his assignment as a "reciever", Jonas escapes the community to find a place in which ideas, thoughts, and memories can be shared.
