The Importance of Pictures
Monday in class we discussed the importance that illustrations have in many childrens picture books today. In most picture books the text is equally important to the illustration, partially because sometimes in stories the illustrations can tell a story of their own, or add to the story as a whole. For example, we looked at the book Goodnight Moon in our English class, we discovered that not once in the text did they decribe to us the character as being a bunny. The detail of the pictures can continue to spread the imagination and add so much to the written text. If the text has a plot it strictly follows then you can look at the illustrations to discover a whole other interpretation. If it werent for illustrations in a children's Picture book, the books would be so boring.
