One of the first children's books I remember reading in Kindergarden was "Brown Bear, Brown Bear, what do you see? ", by Bill Martin Jr. This book is captivating for little kids because it has vivid pictures and it repeats itself in a pattern. "Brown bear, Brown bear, what do you see?", is about animals that see other animals, and it gives a perspective through their eyes. It repeats a pattern, when the brown bear is asked what they see, he says a yellow duck looking at him. This cycle repeats numerous times and in the end, it finales with a fish seeing a teacher. Thus ending in a class room with little kids looking at their teacher.
This is a great beginning novel for children, because it keeps them interested in whats happening next.
